On Wednesday, the Connecticut Department of Labor released their updated monthly report, November 2014 Business & Employment Changes Announced in the News Media. In this report, a total of seven companies announced their startup and expansion plans to hire a grand total of 1,383 employees in Connecticut.
One notable submarine manufacturing company with a long-term plan to create 200 jobs over the next three years is Electric Boat, located in Groton. Another business with a long-term hiring strategy is FuelCell Energy of Torrington. This company is a leading global fuel cell power plant provider, and they plan to create 325 jobs over the next four years.
For companies planning to hire within a few months, Doctors Express will open a new urgent care center in Danbury this February, which will create 20 jobs. In December, Athletic Club plans to open a location in Stamford, which will create 60 jobs.
As for the retail industry, Tanger Outlets in Ledyard, attached to Foxwoods Resort Casino, plans on opening in May 2015.
